On Sunday, October 24, 2021 nine people were ordained as Deacons in the Diocese of Saskatchewan. The event was hosted by the Montrea Lake Cree Nation and St. Joseph's Church, Montreal Lake.
Among the newly ordained Deacons are:

The Reverend Elaine Bear (Pelican Narrows)
The Reverend Dixie Bird (Holy Trinity Prince Albert/Montreal Lake)
The Reverend Edna Mirasty (La Ronge/Grandmothers Bay)
The Reverend Roger Bird (Holy Trinity, Prince Albert)
The Reverend Theresa Sanderson (James Smith Cree Nation)
The Reverend Harry Halkett (Montreal Lake)
The Reverend Sheila Chaboyer (Cumberland House)
The Reverend Ray Aldred (Vancouver School of Theology)
Chief Joyce Naytowhow-McLeod and Chief Tammy Cook-Searson congratulated the group and commended them to rise above adversity and look after themselves as well as serve with all their hearts. Archbishop Mark MacDonald (National Indigenous Bishop) and the Rght Reverend Ryscilla Shaw (Toronto) assisted Bishop Adam Halket and Archdeacon Andrew Hoskin (Bishop Michael Hawkin's Commissary) in the service.
Each Deacon was presented with a certificate, sash (stole) and a Bible for their ministry. The Diocese is very excited to welcome the new Deacons to our Diocesan Clergy team and pray God's blessings upon them.
