'Breathe on me, Breath of God' is perhaps the most beloved Pentecost hymn in the Cree language.
J.A. McKay's version of this hymn is not a translation of the original 1878 composition of Edwin Hatch. Rather, McKay wrote altogether different lyrics to the same meter and tune. Nonetheless, both speak of the sanctifying work of the Holy Spirit in the heart of the Christian, McKay's version focusing more on the Spirit's 'conquering' of our sinful nature.
